Funding for event participation: 'Program on Innovation and Innovative Environments' in Stockholm, 26-28 October 2011

The Swedish Institute Baltic Sea Region Exchange Program invites you to a Program on Innovation and Innovative Environments, taking place in Stockholm, Sweden during October 26 – 28, 2011. The target group for the program is researchers and individuals in management positions within high standing universities, institutes and science parks from the following countries: Belarus, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Russia and Ukraine.
The program will include participation in the seminar Innovation for Growth (more information below) as well as networking possibilities with Swedish university representatives in your fields, who are interested in establishing international cooperation. The program also comprises study visits, focusing on different aspects of innovation. The networking possibilities and the study visit program will be focusing on environmental/energy engineering as well as life sciences, which means that the background of the participants would profit from being within for example waste water treatment, solid waste management, renewable energy, energy efficiency, forest biotechnology, bioinformatics, immunology, neuroscience, proteomics and technology for diagnostic and treatment care.

Application procedure

Apply for participation in this program no later than September 15, using the link below. Due to limited capacity, a selection of participants will be made. Please note that experience of research activities/interests connected to innovation is one important criterion for selection. Confirmation on participation will be emailed to applicants around September 20. For applicants selected for participation, the Swedish Institute will organize and pay for travel bookings as well as accommodation. Only applicants who clearly indicate their possibility to participate during the whole program will be selected.

Since much attention will be on match-making and networking for future cooperation, we would like to stress the importance of that you complete the application form as thoroughly as possible for better chances to become selected for participation.

Innovation for Growth – Successful International Innovation Practices

Innovation will be essential for future competitiveness of all nations. Improving innovative capacity and enabling innovation to flourish are priorities for the European Union and nations worldwide. Sweden gains top scores in international innovation rankings but still has some significant work to do to reach its full innovation potential.

This seminar will aim to explore, from an international perspective, methods used and experiences gained from innovation initiatives or strategies. The seminar will conclude with a panel discussion.

October 28 Study visit program

09.00-16.00 - Study visits focusing on innovation and innovative environments, for example to research institutes, science parks and equivalents. Study visits will be adjusted to the backgrounds/interests of the program participants.
