    3rd Semester of Online Masters Programme 'Studies on the EU and Central Asia in the International System' kicks off in Almaty

    From 23 until 30 August 2014, the third workshop of the online master programme  'Studies on the EU and Central Asia in the International System' (EUCAIS) took place in Almaty, Kazakhstan. It was the kick-off for the programme’s third semester and, at the first time since the launch of the programme in 2010, took place in a Central Asian city. The workshop was attended not only by the programme’s current students, but also by EUCAIS alumni students, who benefitted from the workshop’s lectures and contributed to the networking among the present and alumni students and experts.

    European Parliament and Verkhovna Rada ratify EU-Ukraine Association Agreement

    The European Parliament gave its consent to the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement, which includes a Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement (DCFTA), on Tuesday in Strasbourg. At the same time, the Agreement was also ratified by the Ukrainian Parliament in Kiev. The deal will establish a deep political association and economic integration between the EU and Ukraine.

    EU-Central Asia STI Policy Stakeholders' Conference on Climate Change

    The Policy Stakeholder Conference (PSC) in Bishkek, hosted by the Parliament of the Kyrgyz Republic, will be the first in a series of this type of policy dialogue activities organised under the IncoNet CA project. The aim of the event is to involve key stakeholders and discuss issues related to the Societal Challenge 'Climate Action, Environment, Resource Efficiency and Raw Materials' and cooperation possibilities between the EU Member States/Associated Countries and the Central Asian Countries in this field.

    The EU-Russia Year of Science 2014 is a joint initiative of the European Commission and the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, organised with the EU Member States across the EU and Russia. Its objective is to highlight the achievements and the potential of the rich science and research cooperation between Russia and Europe.

    IncoNets EaP and CA support twinning activities - call now open!

    IncoNet EaP and IncoNet CA, the 'STI International Cooperation Networks for Eastern Europe and Central Asia' will implement 'Twinning Grants' as a funding instrument – one of the core activities of these projects. Twinning itself has a long tradition in Europe as a an efficient instrument in capacity building processes. The IncoNet EaP and CA consortia plan to use this instrument to enhance STI cooperation and increase capacities on both sides. The grant scheme is envisaged to become a tool to develop sustainable cooperation among experienced EU and regional partners in the realm of Science, Technology and Innovation.

    ClimaEast – Support to Climate Change Mitigation and Adoption in the Eastern Neighbourhood countries and Russia

    Clima East is a European Union funded project package assisting the Eastern Neighbourhood Partnership Countries and Russia in approaches to climate change mitigation and adaptation. The EUR 18 million package consists of two components: the 1st, with a budget of EUR 11 million and implemented by UNDP, consists of a number of Pilot Projects that support the development of ecosystems-based approaches to climate change; the 2nd is a Policy component that seeks to foster improved climate change policies, strategies and market mechanisms in the partner countries by improving information access to EU climate change policies, laws and expertise.
