    incrEAST Country Reports updated – 2014 information now available

    For 12 countries in the Eastern Partenrship region and Central Asia the incrEAST Country Reports offer general information, an overview of research policies, details about science landscapes, research organisations and cooperation programmes from reliable local sources. Eight of these reports – Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan, Ukraine, and Uzbekistan – have already been updated to 2014. Most of the Country Reports are available in English and in Russian.

    Summer Academy on EU Legislation in Russian language for Law Students from Russia and Kazakhstan

    The Wismar University of Technology, Business and Design  recently hosted a Summer Academy on the basics of the common legislation of the EU Member States. 'Common legislation is also of interest for the countries of the former Soviet Union, not only against the backdrop of the need to build their own legal systems , but also concerning the goal to harmonise law in growing economies,' says Dr. Jur. Habil. Hans-Joachim Schramm, who teaches at the Faculty of Economics. The students came from the renowned Pambouka Institute in Moscow and the Al-Farabi University in Almaty. For most of them it was their first visit to Western Europe.

    EU-Central Asia STI Policy Stakeholders' Conference on Climate Change

    The Policy Stakeholder Conference (PSC) in Bishkek, hosted by the Parliament of the Kyrgyz Republic, will be the first in a series of this type of policy dialogue activities organised under the IncoNet CA project. The aim of the event is to involve key stakeholders and discuss issues related to the Societal Challenge 'Climate Action, Environment, Resource Efficiency and Raw Materials' and cooperation possibilities between the EU Member States/Associated Countries and the Central Asian Countries in this field.

    EU-Russia Year of Science 2014

    The EU-Russia Year of Science 2014 is a joint initiative of the European Commission and the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, organised with the EU Member States across the EU and Russia. Its objective is to highlight the achievements and the potential of the rich science and research cooperation between Russia and Europe.

    Joint Russian-Norwegian initiative research projects competition (2015) of the Russian Foundation for Basic research (RFBR) and the Research Council of Norway (RCN)

    The Russian Foundation for Basic Research (RFBR) and the Research Council of Norway (RCN) have launched a Call for Proposals for joint Russian-Norwegian initiative projects of basic research, with a thematical focus on processes and technologies related to oil and gas exploitation in the Arctic Sea regions: 1) Study of geological and geophysical processes in the Barents Sea related to the oil and gas resources; 2) Development of safety technology for offshore oil production and transportation in the Arctic; 3) Development of safety technologies and navigation operations in the Arctic sea regions.     IncoNets EaP and CA support twinning activities - call now open!

    IncoNet EaP and IncoNet CA, the 'STI International Cooperation Networks for Eastern Europe and Central Asia' will implement 'Twinning Grants' as a funding instrument – one of the core activities of these projects. Twinning itself has a long tradition in Europe as a an efficient instrument in capacity building processes. The IncoNet EaP and CA consortia plan to use this instrument to enhance STI cooperation and increase capacities on both sides. The grant scheme is envisaged to become a tool to develop sustainable cooperation among experienced EU and regional partners in the realm of Science, Technology and Innovation.
