    New guide on EU funding for regional authorities and SMEs that develop dual use technologies

    A new publication has been released this month by the European Commission's Directorate General for Enterprise and Industry. The guide is intended for small and medium-sized companies developing technologies for use on both civil and military markets (so called 'dual use' technologies) and presents opportunities offered by Horizon 2020 and COSME (the EU programme for the Competitiveness of Enterprises and Small and Medium-sized Enterprises). The document is also directed at regional authorities who intend to foster dual use developments in their areas.

    4th Meeting of EU-Tajikistan Cooperation Council: EU announces further support for development

    The European Union and the Republic of Tajikistan held their fourth Cooperation Council meeting on 20 October 2014. During the Cooperation Council, the European Commission also announced new development funding of €251 million to Tajikistan for the period 2014-2020. The funds will focus on vital sectors for growth and social stability, such as rural development, health, and education.

    Thematic Workshop on Climate Change: Identification of Research Priorities for the EU-Eastern Partnership STI cooperation

    Following the decision of the 2nd EaP Panel on Research & Innovation meeting, the IncoNet EaP project has undertaken to organise three Thematic Workshops in order to identify relevant topics and sub-themes for the EU-EaP STI cooperation. In this context a Thematic Workshop on Climate Change will take place in Athens on 6-7 November 2014.

    EU Russia Year of Science 2014 Closing Conference – register now!

    Titled 'EU-Russia STI collaboration: Good practice examples from the Year of Science and beyond' the closing conference of the EU-Russia Year of Science 2014 will be the occasion to highlight the achievements of the Year of Science, present good practice from the areas of mutually beneficial cooperation and finally illustrate the potential for Science, Technology and Innovation cooperation in the future. Registration will be open from 6 October- 10 November at the latest via the Year of Science website. As the number of participants is restricted, registrations will be accepted on the principle of 'first come, first serve'.

    Ukraine Funding Opportunities updated

    The web portal provides links to current bilateral cooperation projects between the EU and non-European countries and features a database with national funding opportunities in these countries, which are open to European researchers or joint research endeavours. The information about funding programmes in Ukraine has recently been updated and currently lists 58 funding opportunities.

    IncoNets EaP and CA support twinning activities - call now open!

    IncoNet EaP and IncoNet CA, the 'STI International Cooperation Networks for Eastern Europe and Central Asia' will implement 'Twinning Grants' as a funding instrument – one of the core activities of these projects. Twinning itself has a long tradition in Europe as a an efficient instrument in capacity building processes. The IncoNet EaP and CA consortia plan to use this instrument to enhance STI cooperation and increase capacities on both sides. The grant scheme is envisaged to become a tool to develop sustainable cooperation among experienced EU and regional partners in the realm of Science, Technology and Innovation.

    SUAFRI-EPC – Supporting the Uptake of Agri-Food Research Results into Innovation with Eastern Partnership Countries

    SUAFRI-EPC aims to bridge the gap between research and innovation in Eastern Partnership Countries (EPC) with a focus on Societal Challenge 2 'Food security, sustainable agriculture and forestry, marine and maritime and inland water research and the bioeconomy' of the European Commission’s Horizon 2020 programme. The three year project is being implemented by a consortium of twelve partners from across Europe and the Eastern Partnership region.
