    Commissioner Oettinger announces plans to launch a 'Digital Community' with Ukraine and other EaP countries

    On 26 July 2016, Günther H. Oettinger, European Commissioner for the Digital Economy and Society, and the Ukrainian Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman spoke at a high-level policy event in Kiev which explored the challenges and opportunities that the European Union's Digital Single Market (DSM) represents for Ukraine. On this occasion, Commissioner Oettinger said that he was 'delighted [...] to begin discussions on the creation of the Digital Community, which could extend the benefits of the DSM beyond EU borders.'

    European Research Council to invest record budget in 2017

    On 25 July 2016, the European Research Council (ERC) announced its 2017 grant competitions with a total budget of around €1.8 billion, the highest ever since the ERC's inception in 2007. It is also the record ERC annual funding reserved for young researchers with two to seven years of post-PhD experience (Starting grants) and the first increase of the ERC annual budget since 2013. The ERC grants, part of the EU's research and innovation programme, Horizon 2020, support ambitious researchers from anywhere in the world, who are ready to carry out their research projects in the EU or associated countries.

    Request for proposals for Audit Services 2016-2017

    The Science and Technology Center of Ukraine (Kyiv) and the International Science and Technology Center (Astana) have issued a joint request for proposals for audit services for the years ending 31st December 2016 and 2017. Completed proposals must be received by 17:00 Kyiv time on Tuesday 6th September, 2016. Any contract awarded will be awarded to the Auditor, who, based upon evaluation of all proposals, is determined to have submitted the proposal with the lowest evaluated price, considering both technical merit and cost.

    SEEMLA – Sustainable exploitation of biomass for bioenergy from marginal lands

    The main objective of the H2020 funded EU project SEEMLA is the establishment of suitable innovative land-use strategies for a sustainable production of plant-based energy on marginal lands while improving general ecosystem services. The use of marginal lands (MagL) could contribute to the mitigation of the fast growing competition between traditional food production and production of renewable bio-resources on arable lands. The consortium comprises three partners from Germany, one from Italy, two from Greece and two from Ukraine.
