This session is a side event of the 21st EARMA Conference: "Global Outreach: Enabling Cultures and Diversity in Research Management and Administration". It is organised by the EU funded IncoNet CA project.
There is already a considerable background in the STI cooperation between the European Union and the Central Asian Countries. Building on this background, the two regions aim at further enhancing their STI cooperation by making optimum use of each other’s academic strengths, sharing respective resources and stimulating the effort to transfer research results to national, regional and worldwide markets, as well as to respond to major Societal Challenges that both regions are facing.
During the session, the FP7 IncoNet CA project “STI International Cooperation Network for Central Asian countries” will be presented. In particular, the specific aims and project outcomes so far will be described. This will be followed by summarising the Horizon 2020 funding opportunities applicable to the Central Asian organisations. Specific attention will be paid to the role of research management and innovation systems in selected CA countries including challenges in research management and administration (RM&A) and complexities of managing diverse, and international/ multicultural projects.
The key issues will be discussed with the panel participants to pinpoint the main concerns and fields of interest of European project managers. The administrative challenges and best practices especially with regard to the CA partners will be demonstrated.
The participants in this session will get an overview of the possibilities for research cooperation with CA countries, but also how EARMA can contribute to the RM&A discussion in the framework of IncoNet CA and policymakers.
