On 19 of June 2009 the Georgia National Science Foundation (GNSF) organized an Information Day in Tbilisi with the purpose to develop the international S&T cooperation within the EU 7th Framework Programme (FP7) in the thematic priority Environment as wells in FP7 People programme.
The event was held in the frame of FP7 project "S&T International Cooperation Network for Eastern European and Central Asian Counties", IncoNet EECA, http://www.inco-eeca.net/
Around 150 Georgian participants and EU experts from Poland and Estonia were welcomed by the Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Georgia Dr. Nodar Surguladze as well as by Representative of EC Delegation to Georgia Dr. Oliver Raisner.
Director of GNSF, IncoNet EECA project partner Ms. Natia Jokhadze presented the main topics of partnership between EU and Georgia in S&T (including cooperation in FP7) while Dr. Theodore Dolidze (International Office of GNSF, Coordinator NCP of FP7 for Georgia) provided a brief overview of IncoNet EECA project goals and objectives.
EU key speakers Mrs. Danuta M. Antosiewicz - FP7 Coordinator for “Environment” thematic priority (Poland), Mrs. Kristin Kraav - Expert in FP7 “People” programme, Archimedes Foundation (Estonia) and Mr. Michal Lasota National Contact Point in Poland, IPPT PAN, IncoNet EECA project partner (Poland) made presentations about the topics of the FP7 calls for proposals in 2009 (thematic priority "Environment") as well as on the mobility opportunities offered within FP7 People programme.
Besides, EU speakers provided information about the procedures for participation in 2009 FP7 calls and the tools and services which can helpful for joining consortia in the topics of their interest (partner search systems, financial instruments, etc.).
During the discussions EU speakers gave answers on (mainly practical) questions and shared their experience and best practice among Georgian research teams on different stages of FP7 project preparation and negotiation in thematic area “Environment” and the “People” programme.
