Day of German Science held in Tashkent

Tashkent hosted the Day of German Science in Uzbekistan on 28 March 2012. The event was organized by the Coordinating Committee for Science and Technology Development under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research, and the German Embassy in Uzbekistan. It was attended by representatives of relevant ministries and agencies of the two countries, international organizations and research institutes, professors, academics, experts, scholars and professionals.

At the seminar, Sh.Salihov, chairman of the Coordinating Committee for Science and Technology Development under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan, stressed the gradual development of ties between Uzbekistan and Germany in all fields, particularly in the field of science.

In Uzbekistan, under the leadership of President Islam Karimov, special attention is paid to the acceleration of scientific progress, ensuring the integration of education, science and industry, as well as the development of advanced technologies. International cooperation is an important tool for further enhancing the effectiveness of the work in this field.

Cooperation between the higher education institutions, and research institutes of both countries is dynamically developing.

'For many years we have been effectively cooperating with Uzbekistan in the sphere of science,' said Michael Schlicht, Head of Cooperation with Russia and the CIS States at the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research. 'We intend to further develop mutual ties with Uzbek scholars and universities.' Large-scale reforms are being implemented in Uzbekistan to modernize and develop the education system of the country.

At the event, the two sides exchanged views on further developing and strengthening links between scientific institutions of Uzbekistan and Germany, to intensify the practical dialogue between scientists of the two countries, further improve the mutual exchange of experiences and information,  and develop and implement promising joint projects.
