Belarus and Lithuania will support 20 joint projects in science and technology

In 2011-2012 Belarus and Lithuania will support 20 joint S&T projects. This was decided at the 4th meeting of the bi-lateral Commission on Cooperation in Science and Technology held in Minsk in December 2010. The projects have been selected of 34 applications submitted to the call upon the results of independent scientific evaluation carried out in the both countries.

Belarusian part of the Commission was comprised by Prof. Vasily Safonov, Head, Department of Science and Innovation Activiti4es, Ministry if Education;  Mrs. Tamara Serkova, Head, Department of S&T Cooperation, State Committee for Science and Technology; Prof. Valentyn Orlovich, CEO, Belarusian Republican Foundation for Fundamental Research; Prof. Alexei Busel, Director, Institute of System Analysis and Information Support of S&T Sphere, Lithuanian one – by Mr. Albertas Zhalis, Director, Department of Higher Education, Science and Technology, Ministry of Education and Science; Ms. Jurate Djavizhene, Deputy Head,  Department of International Cooperation, Ministry of Education and Science; Prof. Jozas Kulis, Vilnus Technical University. 

The next meeting of the Commission has been scheduled for the 4th quarter of 2011 in Lithuania.

The coordination of international cooperation is carried out by the Commission on the basis of the intergovernmental agreement on collaboration in science and technology of 24 January 2008.
