European Researchers' Night 2015 in Moldova

The European Researchers' Night celebrated its 10th anniversary this year in 280 cities all over Europe and beyond. In Moldova Researchers Night 2015 took place on the square of the Academy of Sciences in Chisinau. The inclusive format of the event represents a new approach to the interaction between the research sector and the public. During the event the visitors had the chance to discover the world of science and meet the people behind labs and scientific experiments.

Famous scientists, researchers, and inventors from Moldova agreed to meet all those who are curious and to disclose, in a language comprehensible to everyone, what it means to be a researcher, what science is, how fascinating can be the world of science, how the scientific research contribute to the progress of humanity, but also to encourage young people to pursue a career in science.

Games, spectacular chemical experiments, practical exhibitions of scientific achievements in various fields, healthy food, medicinal plants, varieties of crops developed by scholars, book launches, scientific equipment, drones, robots, interactive discussions, entertaining music, awards for excellence in research - all these have been experienced by the visitors to the RN event 2015 in Moldova.

The European Researchers' Night was organised with the efforts of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova, within the project 'Financial support for Moldova's participation in the European Union's Framework Programme HORIZON 2020'. It aimed to promote science and encourage young people to pursue careers in research. The event is a major project and a component of the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Action, which is part of the Horizon 2020 EU Research Programme.

The European Researchers' Night celebrated its 10th anniversary this year. All the events take place - simultaneously - on the last Friday in September, in 280 cities across Europe and beyond. The event offers scientists the chance to connect with the public, and the public a chance to discover the world of science and the people behind the research experiments.
