The seminar was organised by the Uzbek Agency of Communication and Information in cooperation with the Ministry of Knowledge and Economy of Korea, the National Agency on promotion of Information Technologies of Korea (NIPA) and the World Bank.
Among the participants were representatives of the executive personnel of the President of Republic Uzbekistan, the Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis, the Cabinet of Ministers, and more than 70 senior employees from the ministries and departments of the republic, as well as from other governmental bodies.
The basic purpose of the seminar was to expand cooperation between Uzbekistan and Korea in the development of information and communication technologies, in particular the development and introduction of various ICT supported services in public administration.
The seminar underlined, that today in Uzbekistan information technologies are actively being introduced into the government. With the purpose to further develop and modernise the Governmental portal, the additional modules G to B and G to C were implemented. More attention will be given to introducing electronic forms for the state statistical reports. Enterprises and organisations are introducing systems of electronic document circulation including the usage of digital signatures.
The development and universal application of communicative technologies is meant to promote an increase in management efficiency at all levels. In the governmental and nongovernmental sectors of economy they will promote an expansion of interaction between the state and its citizens due to free and operative access to information.
During the seminar representatives of NIPA held presentations on "The Electronic Government in Korea" and presented a program of the international cooperation with Korea and the creation of an action plan on the development of "The Electronic Government in Uzbekistan". The head of the center «Uzinfocom» held a presentation about conditions and prospects of development of information in Uzbekistan.
In addition participants familiarised themselves with the Korean experience of introducing information technologies in various sectors of economy and social sphere, including banking, public health services, management of the social infrastructure, electronic post services and more.
