Areas of future cooperation in space between Ukraine and Belarus defined

On 4 September 2009 during the visit of delegation of the National Space Agency of Ukraine  to the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus the NSAU General Director A.Zynchenko and the Chairman of the Presidium of NASB M.Myasnikovich signed the Directions of perspective cooperation within the framework Agreement between the Government of Belarus and the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine on Cooperation in Research and Use of the Space in Peaceful Purposes.

Directions of perspective cooperation of the two countries foresee joint implementation of space research and applied programs, in particular,

  • creation of mini- and micro satellites for remote sensing of the Earth;
  • development of the systems of management, reception and processing of information from the space vehicles;
  • development of modern technologies of remote sensing data processing for different applied tasks.

Within the framework of the visit the Ukrainian delegation has visited a number of academic organizations – Heat and Mass Transfer Institute, United Institute of Informatics Problems and Scientific Engineering Company “Geoinformation Systems” in order to acquaint with Belarusian projects in space area and adjust mutually advantageous contacts.
