    2012 Researchers' Night (call for proposals FP7-PEOPLE-2012-NIGHT)

    The Researchers' Night is a Europe-wide event bringing together the public at large and researchers once a year on the fourth Friday of September. In 2011 it took place on 23 September in over 800 venues of 320 European cities in 32 countries. The 2012 Researchers' Night will take place on 28 September.     "Proof of Concept" - new European funding initiative to spur innovation

    The European Research Council (ERC) launched a new funding initiative, the “Proof of Concept”, that will contribute to stimulating innovation. Funding of up to EUR 150 000 per grant is made available to researchers already holding ERC grants to bridge the gap between their research and the earliest stage of a marketable innovation. By supporting outstanding research projects at the frontiers of knowledge, the ERC - the newest component of the 7th Research Framework Programme - already feeds into the EU’s Innovation Union. This targeted new initiative will capture the maximum value from frontier research by getting good ideas to market.

    March 17th 2010 the European Commission will launch a call for proposals under the FP7 Marie Curie Actions IIF Scheme – International Incoming Fellowships. The call will close on August 17th 2010. The International Incoming Fellowships (IIF) action is open to experienced researchers from third countries.     Russian-German Call

    In December 2007, the International Bureau (IB) – on behalf of the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) – and the Russian Foundation for Assistance to Small Innovative Enterprises (FASIE) concluded an agreement to jointly support future German-Russian cooperation projects. Following the successful first joint call in summer 2008, the two organizations now want to consolidate their partnership. To this end, they are publishing a second joint call for proposals.     Call for Proposals: "Special Programme to support the next generation of historians in Russia, the Ukraine, Moldova and Belarus"

    In 2001, the Gerda Henkel Foundation established a sponsorship programme to support the up-and-coming generation of historians in Russia, the Ukraine, Moldova and Belarus. The aim of this special programme is to facilitate research projects which are concerned with the history of the young scholar’s own country. Furthermore, the programme is intended to encourage research making use of historical archive material. Preferably, the programme’s participants should cooperate with German historians who specialise in Eastern European studies, who will assume the role of mentors and maintain regular contact with the scholarship holders.
