Information Day on the European Institute of Innovation & Technology (EIT)

On 5 October 2016, an Information Day on the European Institute of Innovation & Technology (EIT) took place at the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine in Kyiv. The aim of the event was to inform national stakeholders about EIT and KIC (Knowledge and Innovation Communities) activities as well as about how to get involved. During the meeting, participants were able to get insights from representatives of the KICs and received an update on future plans from Martin Kern, the EIT's Interim Director.

The EIT Awareness Day in Ukraine was carried out in line with an action plan of the RI-LINKS2UA project. The target group of the event included researchers from the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (NASU), several universities, agricultural and innovation companies. The info day attracted more than 80 participants.

The Vice-President of NASU, the Deputy-Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine and representative of the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine welcomed the attendees. The EIT Interim Director presented the overall aims and mission of EIT and the possibilities of Ukrainian participation in its activity for universities, research institutes and relevant business sector.

Representatives of appropriate EIT divisions, Ms. Julia Panny (Climate-KIC), Mr. Mikolaj Gurdala (EIT Health), and Krzysztof Kubacki (EIT Raw Materials) presented the general collaboration possibilities of universities, research and development institutions and business sector of Ukraine with European Institute of Innovation & Technology.

Mr. Sergey Veretiuk, representative of the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine, shared the Ukrainian vision on the innovation development through the platform Tech Today Hub that aims to unite research, advanced developments and business.

Based on results of the discussions participants decided to extend future cooperation and organise thematic meetings of various departments of EIT with universities, research organisations and representatives of the business sector of Ukraine.
