Horizon 2020 Info Day in Uzbekistan

On 17 April 2024 an Information Day on Horizon 2020, the EU Framework Programme for Research and Innovation, was held at the 'Miran International' hotel in the frame of the IncoNet CA project.

'Horizon 2020', the EU Framework Programme for Research and Innovation started in January 2014. This Framework Programme is a huge initiative for financing scientific research and development, which combines the current Framework Programmes for scientific research and technological development, competitiveness and innovation, as well as the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT).

More than 35 scientists and researchers from scientific and research institutes and organisations of Uzbekistan participated in this event. EU experts from the Estonian Research Council Ms. Ülle Must (Head of the Department of International Research Cooperation) and Ulle Napa (NCP for Climate action, environment, resource efficiency and raw materials), and Vojtech Nosek (Senior project consultant) from Grant Garant presented an overviews of forthcoming Horizon 2020 calls in Health; Demographic Change and Wellbeing;  Innovative Medicines Initiative (IMI): Climate Action; and Environment, Resource Efficiency and Raw Materials.  

The speakers also presented information on Horizon 2020, the EU Framework Programme for Research and Innovation, the Participant Portal, information on how to be involved and find partners, and twinning grants and  discussed issues regarding the developing of cooperation between scientists and specialists of Uzbekistan and the EU.

It is worth to point out that all participants especially liked the workshops. The participants were very active in these exercises and some of them received special gifts from the experts for their active participation.

The Information Day gave an opportunity to get the detailed information on participation opportunities under the Horizon 2020 EU Framework Programme, the Work Programme 2016-2017 and financial issues.
