Regional Training for Central Asian NCPs held in Istanbul

A training activity for National Contact Points (NCPs) in Central Asian countries was organised by TÜBİTAK in Istanbul on 12-13 March 2014 under Task 4.3 'Promotion of Horizon2020' of the IncoNet CA Project. 14 NCPs from 5 Central Asian countries (Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenisatan and Kyrgyzistan) and 4 trainers attended the event. Representatives of experienced EU MS/AC NCPs gave presentations about the role of National Contact Points within 'Horizon2020', the EU's current framework programme for research and innovation. Active participation of the trainees were promoted by organising group activities.

After a welcome speech by Mr. Tarık Şahin, the activity started with the IncoNet CA project presentation, which was made by Mr. Zygmunt Krasinski. The first day of the event aimed at communicating the general structure and basic knowledge about Horizon2020. Ms. Ülle Must made a general presantation on the Framework Programme and added information about work programme, calls, proposal submission and evaluation procedures. Following presantations were made by Ms. Ahu Persembe. Financial and legal aspects of the projects were examined in detail in this session.

The second day of the event was focused on more specific issues. Ms. Ülle Must gave a presentation about sources of information and e-tools. After her, Mr. João Medina informed the participants about the SME instrument and  shared his experience on technology transfer and innovation management. Mr. Zygmunt Krasinski also gave two presentations on the COSME Program and EEN cooperation.

Following sessions included very important information on the roles of NCPs in H2020. Ms. Ülle Must gave a presentation on how to find partners and prepare competitive proposals for H2020. In the last session, Mr. Zygmunt Krasinksi presented the role of NCP structures and the role of NCPs in Horizon 2020. He also shared the NCP experience of Poland. As a last presentation, Ms. Sulushash Magzieva shared Kazakh NCP experience with the participants.
