Armenia: CANDLE project aims to advance natural discoveries using light emission

Issues related to the implementation of the scientific project CANDLE were discussed on 18 August 2010 at the meeting of coordination board of the program chaired by the Armenian Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan.

CANDLE (Center for the Advancement of Natural Discoveries using Light Emission http://www.candle.am/) is a project to create a source of third generation synchrotron radiation in Armenia, which was highly assessed by international expert commissions. CANDLE will create opportunity to conduct modern fundamental and applied studies in various spheres of science.

The board members received information on the opportunities and results of international cooperation targeted at the implementation of the project. Proposals of the experts and interested international scientific organisations and the issue of provision of land-plot for the construction of accelerator of CANDLE centre were discussed.
